GEO glossary

sameAs (schema.org)

The structured-data property with which a website declares the official profiles and entries of its entity.

sameAs is a schema.org property with which a page declares that the entity described (the company, the person) is the same one identified by other URLs: the Wikidata and Wikipedia entries, the LinkedIn page, social profiles, registry listings. It is how machines link sources together and recognise that they are talking about the same subject.

For GEO it is one line of code with a disproportionate effect: it closes the loop between the website, Wikidata and the profiles, reduces namesakes and strengthens the entity. It should be filled in on the website's Organization node and, for leaders, on the Person nodes.
