Knowledge Graph

The base of entities and relationships with which Google (and, in different forms, the other engines) identifies companies, people and products.

The Knowledge Graph is the structured knowledge base with which Google identifies entities (companies, people, places, products) and their relationships, fed largely by Wikidata, Wikipedia, websites' structured data and verified sources. It produces the panel next to the results and is what Gemini and AI Overviews use to recognise who is being talked about.

The other engines have similar, less visible structures. For a company, being in the Knowledge Graph with correct data means being recognised without ambiguity in every answer that starts from Google; the most direct way in is a complete Wikidata entry and consistent structured data on the website.
